"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nutured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is as good as your knowledge' "
Hello, as you may have guessed this is a silly page describing me. Kinda egocentric, the whole idea of a page about oneself, but I was bored and wanted to make fun of my pals, so I had to do a page about me as well.
Kansas City In Fall 2000, Lundo and I traveled to the 2nd most worthless city in the country (the first is Milwaukee). We attended an excellent Star Trek convention hosted by Slanted Fedora. We met tons of people and got nice pictures of us and many of the stars. Check it out.
Norway In July 2000, I traveled with Carrie to Norway for my first visit in 5 years. Carrie was using her new camera, so I have tons of pictures.
Los Angeles In Feb. 2000, I went to Los Angeles to attend the Gallifrey 2000 Dr. Who convention. I drug along Carrie, and we had a blast meeting more people than I ever would have expected. Check out the complete convention report.
San Francisco I went to San Francisco in Feb of '99. It was the usual mix of randomness and site seeing. Got some pictures too. So check it out! (Updated!)
| Texass Summer '98 I went and visited my bud Trace and her beau and mom in the worthless state of Texass. It was hot. We went and saw Dallas, San Antonio, and...hmm. That was about it. I hung around and watched TV the rest of the time (Trace didn't have vacation). I pulled an Ozzy and pissed on the Alamo. I didn't get banned from the state for 10 years (okay, I faked pissing just for a picture). The Alamo is SMALL. Why it is a big deal is beyound me. The riverfront was cool, we drank a ton and sweated it off before we could get a buzz. The liter margaritas were really a liter. | They say you can tell a lot about a person based on their media consumption (or maybe they don't. I've always distrusted anything "they" say). I'm not sure what my current media consumption says about me, but I'll share and you can draw your own conclusions. |
BooksI've been running through HArry Turtledove's alternate histories of the Civil War, 1880's 2nd Civil War and the Great War and the depression. There are alot of good alternately histories, but none really as ambitious as this. Good history buff stuff.
MusicI am the proud owner of the best addition anyone with a Sony 100 disk or better system should have (I have 3 400 disk players), Nirvis systems Slink-E. It manages your CD player and reciever, controlling them via s-link and IR and tracking and managing everything with a nice DB application. One of the interesting things it does is track the albums that get player the most. I figured I'd post what the current top 10 are right now (the results truthfully suprised me).
Okay, enough about my current media consumption.
Benson ExplanationI live in River Falls, WI, but I grew up in Benson Minnesota. I get sick of explaining it. Lundo found some pictures from years back that do a pretty good job.
My Resume is listed here now. If anyone out there is looking for an expereinced network admin. with lots of cross platform experience, or just a consultant that can come in and clean up your network, create a database or advise on upgrading I'm your man. This is what I do, have done and know how to do. If it's not listed, don't worry I learn fast.
I am 27 (boy I'm getting old) and work for VirtuTech as a field engineer (and yes, I did this webpage as well), specialising in cross platform Mac/PC/UNIX networking and support (mostly Mac). I also work part time for Innovative Computer Systems (yeah this webpage too, boy am I a dork) as a on call network advisor/ product support specialist and webmaster. I am currently single and would like to remain that way for a while. I guess I have a sidekick now, but no plans to move into the joint venture territory for a while. I'm a technology junkie and really am like a big kid in the fact that I always like new toys. My baby is my Mac. (If you want more info on the killer machine from hell, follow the link.)
Also, sadly enough, I am a big fan of a few the original Star Trek, as well as Dr. Who Blake's 7 and Babylon 5. I really don't watch that much TV, hell I don't watch any. My roomate has a TV that gets like 14 billion channels, all full of shit. I do however occasionally indulge in a video of one of the above mentioned shows.
Politics also play a big role in my life, but since the election is over (sorta) I'm not real active right now. (No, I'm not going to tell you which party I belong to, that would spoil the fun.) When I was in college I did write a political column for the student newspaper. I managed to find a few old articles still on-line. I linked a few of them here just in case you were curious. Sept. 96 Article on the Importance of the Space Program Oct. 96 Article on negative campaign practices Nov. 96 article about Walmart's CD censorship policies Nov. 96 article about the importance of paying attention to local politics A Dec. 96 artticle about employment
Ohh boy, that's about as much as really care to write about myself. It's depressing trying to sum oneself up, it really makes one realize how meaningless it all seems, or is. Why don't you go make fun of my pals.
Still here?!? I recently changed this, as life forces us all to evolve. Reverse evolution and look at how I presented myself on previous dates.
